Convicted Felon Found With Weapons, Drugs In Poughkeepsie, Say Police

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A Poughkeepsie man is facing numerous charges after a raid turned up a cache of heroin and guns, police said Friday.

Patrick R. Belding, 45, a convicted felon, was arrested after authorities executed a search warrant at 16 Spoor Ave. in the city, police said.

Seized from the home were, police said: two shotguns, a rifle, a loaded, high-capacity magazine for an assault weapon; heroin, methadone, drug paraphernalia, and cash.

Belding was charged with third-degree criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance (heroin), a felony; third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony; and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor, police said.

Belding was arraigned in City of Poughkeepsie Court and sent to Dutchess County Jail without bail, police said.

Conducting the narcotics investigation and raid were the state police’s Community Narcotics Enforcement Team, the city police’s Neighborhood Recovery Unit, state troopers from the Wappingers barracks, and members of the state police Special Operations Response Team.
