FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- A tour of five unique designer homes in coastal Fairfield, Westport, and Southport will help fund programs for people living in poverty in Fairfield County.

The area is home to the largest gap between rich and poor in the United States, according to Near & Far Aid, which is raising funds with the 2017 Designer House Tour on Friday, May 12.

Each house represents a unique architectural appeal and fresh design perspective, all recently reimagined by local designers. Participants may choose the house tour only, and also attend a Designer Breakfast and Afternoon Tea as part of an all-day event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Every dollar raised goes toward funding programs that fight poverty and help improve the lives of those in need across Fairfield County," said Jen Agne of Fairfield, a co-chair of the event.

The breakfast is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Patterson Club, 1118 Cross Highway, Fairfield. It will feature award-winning husband and wife design duo Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller of Carrier and Company Interiors. Their client roster includes Vogue editor Anna Wintour and famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.

The Afternoon Tea Party break at Royal Tea Company, 770 Old Academy Road, Fairfield, will offer continuous service from 1 to 3 p.m.

“The Designer House Tour has become a springtime tradition for so many area residents,” said co-chair Vanessa Dembowski of Fairfield. “This year’s program promises to wow patrons once again and will definitely leave you feeling inspired.”

Ticket prices are $65 in advance or $75 on the day of the tour. The Designer Breakfast is $75, while tickets for the Afternoon Tea Party are $40.
