The winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, "Hairspray" has delighted audiences of all ages since it opened on Broadway in 2002. It’s all part of the 11th season lineup on-tap for the summer in New Canaan.

The lineup also includes a Theatre for Young Audience world premiere and pre-Off-Broadway run of a musical for children based on award winning book, "Merrilee Mannerly." Treasured classics "Charlotte’s Web" and Disney’s "Little Mermaid Jr." round out the young audience program performed under its state-of the-art outdoor theater tent at Waveny Park.

“We’re thrilled to present our 11th summer season,” said artistic director Melody Libonati. “This year we will continue our tradition of providing professional Broadway hit theater productions and great kids theatre in addition to offering an established voice and platform for new original musicals and stage productions.”

"Hairspray, The Broadway Musical" is set in 1962 Baltimore and tells the story of the lovable plus-size teen Tracy Turnblad whose only desire is to dance on the popular Corny Collins TV show. When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her new-found power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network all without denting her hairdo.

Shows run Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. through Aug. 23.
