First County Bank Sponsors Norwalk Oyster Festival

NORWALK, Conn. – First County Bank is sponsoring the Norwalk Seaport Association’s Oyster Festival, which will be held from Friday, Sept. 5, to Sunday, Sept. 7, at Veterans Memorial Park.

The festival will offer a series of family-friendly entertainment and activities.

Scott Sapp of Creed will open the show with a concert at 9 p.m. Friday. On Saturday night, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will bring rock and roll to the main stage, and The U.S. Army Volunteer Band will return to the festival Sunday afternoon after a 19-year absence. The Tito Puente Jr. Orchestra will grace the stage at 4 p.m. Sunday. 

Arial stunt artists The Nerveless Nocks Thrill Show will make its first appearance at the festival, and the addition of a 65-foot Gondola Ferris Wheel will allow riders to witness the festival along with sights in the city of Norwalk and Long Island Sound from high overhead.

This year, The Kids Cove will feature a big-top circus tent by Center Ring Productions.

First County Bank has been a supporter of The Oyster Festival since 2007.

“First County Bank’s financial support has been so important to the Norwalk Seaport Association over the years, and we appreciate their sponsorship of our signature event once again this year,” said Irene Dixon, president of the board of trustees of the Norwalk Seaport Association, Inc., in a press release. “Their support and that of others helps us to maintain Norwalk’s maritime heritage, and to provide an enjoyable event for Oyster Festival attendees.”

The festival is taking place at Veterans Park, adjacent to Norwalk Harbor on Seaview Avenue.

The hours are:

  • Friday, Sept. 5: 6 to 11 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 6: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 7: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Admission prices, which include all music shows, are:   

  • Friday: $10
  • Saturday: $12
  • Sunday: $12
  • Seniors: $10
  • Children ages 5 to 12: $5
  • U.S. military personnel on active duty: Free (must show ID)

The Oyster Festival is the largest fundraiser for the Norwalk Seaport Association, which has owned, restored and maintained the Sheffield Island Lighthouse since 1986 and is the official U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Friends group for the Norwalk Islands.
