Several crews rushed to the scene of the two-alarm fire on Mt. Rascal Road in Independence Township around 1:15 p.m. Saturday, June 10, including departments in Hackettstown, Mansfield Township, Allamuchy, and Washington, and more, the township's first aid squad said.
No injuries were reported, however, the family’s pets were killed, according to a GoFundMe launched by loved ones.
“…the Delorenzos lost their home and all of their pets in a devastating house fire,” reads the fundraiser. “In just minutes, 31 years of family memories, love and their beloved pets disappeared in the flames. They now possess nothing but the clothes on their backs.”
The fundraiser had nearly reached $56,000 as of Monday, June 12, putting it more than halfway toward its goal of $100,000 in just 48 hours.
The Delorenzos are described in the campaign as “the nicest people you will come across” and always willing to help others.
“Now more than ever they need the support of the community and help to begin rebuilding their life,” reads the fundraiser.
Donations were also being made on behalf of the family to the Independence First Aid Squad (3 Regina Lane, Great Meadows, NJ 07838). Pickups can be arranged by calling (908)-736-6109.
“Anything that you can donate please do as all of the Delorenzos have lost everything today,” reads the fundraiser.
