Employment Workshop In Stamford: Part II
Monday, Sep 24, 2012, 7:00pm
1035 Newfield Ave., Stamford, CT
Suggested Donation: $10
Jewish Family Service in cooperation with Jewish Singles in their Twenties and Thirties (JTT) and the Singles Outreach program will sponsor a three part series for Jewish professionals called the Jewish Employment Workshop.
David Johnson, Manager of Internet Operations for Stamford-based, Frontier Communications explained, “Career searching has become so complex that Mark (Mark S. Frank, Managing Consultant, Allegis Partners) and I saw an unaddressed opportunity to leverage our expertise and connections in helping others to find their dream jobs. Our goal was simple: empower those in the job market by bringing together dynamic experts for three interactive workshops; focusing on resume building, social media and interviewing skills. In working with a local, charitable organization, Jewish Family Service, we were also able to remove unwanted financial barriers to attendance.”
Each session will be held at the Stamford JCC, 1035 Newfield Avenue at 7:00 pm. Light snacks and drinks will be served. All sessions are open to the entire community with a suggested donation of $10 or a food donation to the JFS Kosher Food Pantry.
Building Your Resume will be the topic of the first session on Thursday, August 16th. Mitch Podob, Manager of Corporate & Field Human Resources at Connolly will be the presenter. Connolly is a profitable international recovery audit firm specializing in financial auditing, consulting and payment error identification services working with clients in the healthcare, retail and commercial sectors. Mr. Podob will teach attendees the dos and don’ts of creating a resume that will get the applicant noticed.
On Thursday, September 24th, the subject of Social Media & the Job Search will be covered by Erik Karff, Manager of Digital Marketing & Branding at the Allegis Group Services. Mr. Karff specializes in creative marketing, branding, social media, audience development and digital marketing integration and has worked as a freelance social media consultant to small businesses and nonprofit organizations prior to joining Allegis Group Services. He will guide participants through social media sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook and others while exploring how they can be helpful or harmful in finding and securing the perfect job.
Interview Skills, to be discussed on Wednesday, October 17th by Mitch Podob will present the secrets of delivering a memorable interview. Elements to be reviewed will be dress, interaction, trick questions and keeping up the conversation and contact after the interview.
