NORWALK, Conn. – Young Jewish Professionals, Connecticut will host a “Purim in the Jungle” cocktail and networking party Wednesday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. at 40 King Street, Norwalk.
The party will feature an interactive African Drum Circle where each participant will drum. It will also have a full Kosher buffet dinner, Lechaims, Hamentash cookies, a megillah reading and door prizes. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed up inspired by nature and the jungle.
The Purim holiday is a part of biblical history that dates back over 2,500 years ago and commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people of the ancient Persian Empire from Haman's plot to annihilate them, as recorded in the Megillah-Book of Esther. It is celebrated by reading of the megillah (book of Esther), which recounts the story of the Purim miracle, giving gifts of money to the poor, sending gifts of food to friends and participating in a Purim feast. This year Purim falls on Wednesday and Thursday, which corresponds to the Hebrew date of Adar 14.
The cost of admission is $20 at the door.
The YJP, CT serves as a hub for networking and social activities for Jewish professionals in their 20s and 30s serving the many young Jews living and working in and around Westport and Fairfield County.
