The Progressive Insurance Norwalk Boat Show will kick off Thursday and continue through Sunday. Those in the market for a new boat can shop around from a wide variety of dealers selling everything from 13-foot runabouts to 75-foot luxury yachts. Vendors also will sell electronics and gear for boating, fishing and water sports.

"After a summer filled with boating fun, enthusiasts are anxious to extend their time on the water and plan their next purchase," said Jon Pritko, the show manager. "Whether it's a new GPS system, the latest and greatest fishing rod, or a new boat, boaters will find what they are looking for at the Progressive Insurance Norwalk Boat Show."

In addition to shopping for boats and equipment, both veteran boaters and beginners can attend a variety of seminars and workshops. There will be educational demonstrations on powerboating, seamanship, maintenance, docking, open water handling and more. Visitors also will get to try paddle boarding and kayaking.

The event will feature a wide range of entertainment for children and families. Kids can get up close with monkeys, wallabies, parrots and other exotic creatures at Nature Nick's Animal Adventures. There also will be kids' boating in a mini-lake, a toy boat building workshop, facepainting, and an appearance by Dora the Explorer. The Miss GEICO Racing Team will be showing off its latest racing boat, a 50-foot catamaran that reaches speeds over 200 miles per hour. Visitors can also grab a drink at the Water Club Lounge, and enjoy daily musical performances by Eric Stone.
