NORWALK, Conn. – Jeff Corwin, the Emmy Award-winning television biologist and adventurer, will share some of his experiences and insights – and introduce some of his live animal friends – in two special shows Nov. 6 at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.
The popular host of nature programs on Animal Planet, Discovery and ABC will come to Norwalk for shows at 4 and 7:30 p.m. in the aquarium’s IMAX Theater.
“There are so many ‘adventurer,’ ‘explorer,’ ‘naturalist’ TV shows these days, but they’re all trying to follow the model that was set by Jeff Corwin,” said Jennifer Herring, president of the aquarium in a prepared statement. “His youthfulness and passion and knowledge have inspired a new generation of stewards of the environment. We’re excited and honored to be welcoming him to The Maritime Aquarium.”
Kids at the aquarium were first introduced to a 26-year-old Corwin in 1994, through his participation in Robert Ballard’s JASON Project broadcasts of a live scientific mission to the rain forests of Belize.
Corwin currently is executive producer and host of “Ocean Mysteries,” in which he teams with experts at the Georgia Aquarium to share extraordinary stories that lie beneath the waves while enhancing our understanding about the oceans' life-sustaining value to the planet. It airs on Saturday mornings on ABC.
Tickets for one of Corwin’s shows at the aquarium are $45 ($40 for members). Sellouts are expected. To reserve tickets, go online or call 203-852-0700, Ext. 2206.
The Corwin event is part of a series of 2013-14 lectures scheduled at the aquarium. The others include:

• Environmentalist Daniel Botkin, March 10.
• Sharon dentist Martin Nweeia, an expert on the rare narwhal, April 7.
• Zookeeper/TV host Jack Hanna for two shows May 7.
• Weston author Richard Hyman, who will talk about his expeditions aboard Jacques Cousteau’s Calypso, June 23.
