Amazing Kreskin, Willie Wonka Character Coming To Norwalk Chocolate Expo

NORWALK, Conn. -- Meet the original Mike Mike Teavee of "Willie Wonka & The Chocolate Factory" and celebrity chefs at a vendor-filled Chocolate Expo returning Sunday, Jan. 29 to Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.

About 40 local and regional vendors will be on site offering samples and sales of gourmet chocolates, baked goods, and specialty foods.

Presenters that day include chefs, Barret Beyer, Tony Albanese and Larry Rosenberg, and mentalist The Amazing Kreskin.

The aquarium will be open later that day until 7 p.m. and admission will be half price.

Admission from 5 to 7 p.m. will be $10.

The Expo, producer Marvin Baum said is for anyone "serious about chocolate and who love unique specialty food."

Among an array of items for sale, there will be chocolate-covered bacon, chocolate tarts, candy apples, fudge, chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate vinaigrettes, and chocolate-infused Brussels sprouts and chocolate scented candles.

Tony Albanese, pastry designer and former assistant to Buddy Valastro of TV’s “Cake Boss,” will present at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Barret Beyer of Fox TV’s “Hell’s Kitchen” at 2 and 4 p.m.

Larry Rosenberg, recipe-book author, owner of Bacon Bites and soon-to- be-seen on Food Network, at 1 and 5 p.m.

The Amazing Kreskin will present at noon.

Seating of 310 for the chef demonstrations and The Amazing Kreskin will be on a first come, first-seated basis. The chefs will be available throughout the day for pictures and autographs.

Paris Themmen, who played Mike TeeVee – the boy in the cowboy outfit – opposite Gene Wilder in “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" will sign autographs and pose for photos throughout the day.

Free children's art activities are from 11 a.m. to noon and at 1 and 2 p.m. Face-painting will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
