NORWALK, Conn. -- The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum has received a $20,000 grant from The Xerox Foundation in support of the museum’s 2015 educational and cultural programs.

“The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion is a treasured piece of history for this area,” said Mark Conlin, president of The Xerox Foundation. “The value of a partnership like this is not only the historic preservation of an institution but also the many education programs it delivers to the community. Sharing that bit of history with hundreds of children each year is really special and a critical aspect of our community investments.”

The Xerox Foundation’s $20,000 contribution comes at a crucial time and will have a great impact on the museum’s cultural and educational programs and the quality of life of the communities it serves.

“We are very thankful to The Xerox Foundation for supporting our 2015 season. It is only with this kind of support that the museum will be able to fulfill its mission of offering substantive cultural and educational programs to our community,” said Patsy Brescia, LMMM chairman of the board. Community outreach, school tours, educational and cultural programs have been major objectives of the musem.

This grant from The Xerox Foundation will provide the necessary support to ensure the continued growth and success of its diverse educational offerings for Norwalk residents and museum visitors throughout the tristate area. The support will help sponsor an array of programs, including the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum/Ernest Hemingway/Young Writers’ Competition, lectures by renowned speakers, art exhibitions and community events. Xerox has been a major supporter of the museum since 2010 and continues to be one of the leading corporate investors in the museum’s programs.

“The board of trustees and I are profoundly grateful to The Xerox Foundation for its very generous support. We highlight The Xerox Foundation’s grant with great pride as Xerox stands for excellence worldwide and their investment in our museum is a vital endorsement of our mission and programs,” said executive director Susan Gilgore.
