Three years after celebrating its 150th anniversary, Gault Family Companies -- formerly Gault Energy & Stone -- unveiled a spiffy new logo and corporate rebranding it hopes will be more relevant and descriptive for modern customers.

“We’re excited about this exciting new brand of our company,” said company President Sam Gault, the fifth generation of the Westport family to lead the business. “It’s about our family and our employees. It allows us to be able to expand in the future.”

The new company umbrella name — Gault Family Companies — includes three divisions: Energy & Home Solutions, Stone & Landscape Supplies and Properties & Development.

The company, the oldest family-owned and -operated energy company in Fairfield County, hired Westport-based The Visual Brand to help rebrand its image. Work on the new image took about a year, Sam Gault said.

“We had just had our 150th with a year-long celebration and, from that, we realized it was a jumping off point to look to evolve the company,” said Meredith Donaher, a sixth-generation family member who is the company’s marketing director.

Gault started as a hauling business with a single horse and wagon and has evolved to encompass energy, stone and real estate businesses. The varied company divisions provide full-service stone and masonry supply, bioheat and propane delivery, air-conditioning equipment installation and more.

Its real estate arm is best known for its award-winning mixed-use Saugatuck Center development.

The business employs about 150 people and also has a Bridgeport location on the city’s Seaview Avenue, Donaher said.

Bill Gault, a fourth-generation family member who serves as chairman of the board, said he’s pleased with the company’s new look, its first in 17 years.

“It’s a continuation of the business for the next generation,” he said.
