On Wednesday, the Fairfield store will donate 5 percent of its proceeds to the mission, a nonprofit organization that provides tens of thousands of meals to the homeless and needy in the Bridgeport and South Norwalk areas every year. The 5 percent days often raise $2,500 or more for participating organizations.
“We are very excited to start the new year by giving back to the local community,” said Store Team Leader Jonathan Martin in a statement. “The '5% Day' is a great way to help the Bridgeport Rescue Mission provide healthy food to people in the Fairfield area who struggle to afford nutritious meals.”
The mission’s food outreach program includes mobile kitchens that visit impoverished neighborhoods in Bridgeport and South Norwalk as well as pantry box deliveries to families struggling to make ends meet. Click here for more information about the organization.
“This donation is going to support our mobile kitchen and on-site meal programs and help a lot of hungry people enjoy a good home-cooked meal,” said Donna Romano, communications manager for Bridgeport Rescue Mission in a release.
