Rowayton Resident 'Cobbles Together' New Streaming Service

ROWAYTON, Conn. -- After more than 10 years as a marketing VIP at Showtime Networks, Rowayton resident Virginia Juliano launched a free website called CobbleCord in September and just recently a new app that helps consumers "cobble together" the perfect combination of over-the-top (OTT) online video services to fit their viewing needs.

In a nutshell, CobbleCord assists people who are looking to “cut the cord,” or get rid of their traditional cable television service, by showing options for users to “cobble together” the best combination of available online services, according to a press release.

Users enter the site or app, answer a few simple questions about what they like to watch, the device they watch on and desirable price point options, and CobbleCord generates a Personalized Entertainment Recommendation tailored to that specific user, the release said.

In addition to providing detailed information about both well-known and off-the-radar free and paid services (think YouTube, HBO, NetFlix, Amazon and more), users also can directly link to those services to order, or drill down on networks, shows, devices and genres to view other services associated with each.

“CobbleCord is the first of its kind, serving as an ‘entertainment advocate’ to give consumers the information they need to make an educated decision on whether or not to give up their traditional cable television service,” said Juliano in a press release.

Juliano was most recently Showtime's vice president of Multi-Platform Marketing where she focused on subscriber acquisition and retention. She was also an integral member of the launch team for Showtime’s OTT product.

“With such an overwhelming number of OTT choices, there is chaos and confusion in the marketplace, and people have to work very hard to figure it all out,” Juliano said. “Helping consumers navigate these waters in a no-nonsense, fun way can prompt people who have been on the ‘cord cutting fence’ to finally take action. We give them the framework to craft a personal ‘meta-bundle’ of free and paid OTT services that’s perfectly suited for their preferences."
