NORWALK, CONN. – For the seventh year in a row, Teddy’s Transportation System Inc., a global ground transportation company based in Norwalk, has been named to the Inc. magazine list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the country.
According to Inc. magazine, the list is the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy – America’s independent-minded entrepreneurs.
Teddy’s revenue grew 25 percent between 2009 and 2012, ranking the company 4,579 on the just-released list. Teddy’s is the only chauffeured ground transportation company in Connecticut and the tri-state region to make the 2013 list. Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and a list of the fastest-growing companies that can be sorted by industry and region, can be found here.
“We were very excited to make the inaugural Inc. 5000 list in 2007 and honored to repeat our success in every succeeding year,” said Charles Wisniewski, president and chief executive officer in a prepared statement. “With business travel continuing its steady growth in our region, I’m delighted to report that we have continued to turn in a solid performance in 2013,”
Teddy’s 2013 Inc. 5000 ranking, comes on the heels of Teddy’s being named the top chauffeured ground transportation company of its size in the nation in the prestigious LCT Magazine Operator of the Year competition last year.
“Although the awards keep coming, year after year, our focus continues to be on impeccable execution at the micro level, ride after ride,” Wisniewski said in a statement.
The award also comes on the heels of Wisniewski assuming full ownership of Teddy’s Transportation System, Inc. Founded in 1932 as Teddy’s Taxi in Westport, the company was purchased by Wisniewski’s parents in 1978. Ted, Sr. died in 1995, and his wife, Shelly, deeded joint ownership to her three children in 2009. Wisniewski, who has been company president since 1990, purchased his siblings’ shares and became sole owner on July 17.
