NORWALK, Conn. – CT ENT Sinus and Allergy Medical Director Dr. Robert Weiss is the first physician in the state to utilize the Balloon Sinus Dilation procedure.
The procedure is designed to reduce sinus infections and is intended to wean the patient off antibiotics to combat the infections.
It's also a way for patients to limit the amount of sinus-related headaches and ease nasal congestion.
Older BSD procedures required in-patient visits to hospitals. With the latest navigation system on-site at CT ENT, it now can be done in-office in about 30 minutes. The navigation system used by CT ENT is called a Fiagon Navigation System, which utilizes a CAT scan and real-time images to guide doctors during operations.
“By pairing the BSD procedure with the Fiagon technology, we can shorten the duration of the process and work with an added safety measure in place,” Weiss said in a statement.
