NORWALK, Conn. - Dr. Keith Overland, past president of the American Chiropractic Association who practices in Norwalk and lives in Wilton, was given the prestigious Chiropractor of the Year award by the group it its recent annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
The award recognizes exceptional service, achievement and/or leadership to the profession. Overland, DC, CCSP, was honored for exhibiting all of these qualities and more during his two and a half-year term as ACA president, while working to advance the profession and the association within the reformed health care landscape in the United States.
Overland served as president of ACA from September 2011 to March 2014, during which time the association sought increased health care choices for patients and parity for chiropractic physicians as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was implemented across the country. Overland led ACA in the creation of a 10-year plan that aims to position chiropractic favorably as health care providers work in increasingly integrated settings.
First elected to the ACA Board of Governors in 2005, Overland is chairman of the ACA Legislative Committee and the ACA Fundraising Committee, in addition to his role as immediate past president. He is also an active member of the Membership Executive Committee.
At home in Wilton, he has served as co-chair of the Connecticut Governors Committee on Physical Fitness, a member of former Sen. Joseph Lieberman’s (I-Conn.) Health Care Task Force and a member of the Connecticut Department of Health Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
A 1981 graduate of New York Chiropractic College, Overland has served the Norwalk community in private practice for more than 30 years, and has been named Connecticut Chiropractor of the Year three times.
