NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Community College Wellness Committee was recently recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association with an AHA Fit-Friendly Gold Award, the second year in a row in which NCC has been honored.
The AHA’s Fit-Friendly program recognizes employers who champion the health of their employees and work to create a culture of health in the workplace.
AHA staff plan to officially present the award later this month to NCC Exercise Science and Wellness Director Paul M. Gallo and other members of the wellness committee.
In 2015, NCC formed the committee to educate members of the college community about ways to improve nutrition, increase energy, exercise and manage stress.
The group holds free programs throughout the school year for students, faculty and staff, including a series of wellness walks, lunchtime health lectures and a weekly farmers market.
