Xie’s new restaurant, REN Dumpling & Noodle House, officially opens at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Gateway Plaza, 14 Danbury Road, Wilton.
Proceeds from the grand opening – which runs from Friday through Sunday – will be donated to the Riverbrook Regional YMCA in Wilton, which serves residents of Wilton, Weston and Redding as well as Norwalk.
Hwang, who will attend Friday’s ribbon-cutting, said he is a frequent diner at Xie’s Norwalk restaurant. He said he was “thrilled” that Xie was “bringing authentic home-style comfort Chinese food to Wilton.”
Praising Xie’s support of the YMCA, Hwang called him “a community-minded small business owner who enjoys giving back to help others.”
Xie had reached out to Boucher to express his desire to help one of Wilton’s non-profit groups, the senator said.
“Since the YMCA now serves both Wilton and Norwalk, this was a great fit,” she said.
Bob McDowell, CEO of the Riverbrook Regional YMCA, also thanked Xie.
“Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors in Wilton and Norwalk to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive,” McDowell said. These funds will ensure we can deliver on this promise.”
