Rymackees Café and Catering is owned and operated by Bridgeport native Keshia Criss.

The café’s name is a combination of Criss's name as well as those of her son and daughter, who provided her with the initiative to open the café. Criss has been in the catering business in Norwalk since 1997.

“It has been great working with the library to open my first café. I look forward to getting to know the library’s customers as well as the general community. This has been a dream come true,'' Criss said.

“After years of planning, we are very excited to see the doors finally open for our newest service,” said Shell, a former basketball at the University of Bridgeport who took over as the library director in Danbury in 2013.

“In 2011, the library conducted surveys and community forums to ask the Danbury residents what they wanted from their library as part of the library’s strategic planning. The No. 1 response was a café, and we are happy to bring years of planning to a very happy ending.”

Rymackee’s will be open Mondays through Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays, noon to 5 p.m.

Breakfast menu items include bagels, waffles and egg sandwiches. Lunch and early evening items include a chopped salad station and assorted sandwich wraps, including a special lobster wrap available on Wednesdays. Rounding out the menu is a variety of hot and cold beverages, homemade dessert selections and specialty children’s items.

The Café has two entrances located off the Library’s Bank Street parking lot. One entrance is accessible during library hours and the other accessible during all operating hours.

The Danbury Library is located at 170 Main St. For more information, contact Shell at 203-797-4512 or Criss at 203-205-0963.
