NORWALK, Conn. -- The owners of Mediterraneo of Norwalk presented the Human Services Council and Ellen Appleby, the daughter of the founder of their programs, with a donation for nearly $1,000 to support their Dr. Robert E Appleby Health Centers.

Mediterraneo of Norwalk raised funds through a promotional campaign they created called “Lunch for a Cause.” “We are thankful to Mediterraneo for helping us to serve the community and ensure that students in Norwalk are healthy enough to learn,” said Anthony DiLauro, Executive Director of the Human Services Council.

“Lunch for a Cause” was pioneered to help Z Hospitality give back to the community. The Z hospitality Group supports select causes that promote health and wellness.

The Appleby Health Centers provide school-based health services in some of Norwalk’s public schools. In addition to providing care on-site, SBHC’s educate children and their families about healthy eating habits, the importance of wellness and the impact it has on their life.

“Healthy kids make better learners and healthy eating leads to a long life,” said Kimberly Killoy, the Development and Communications Director of the HSC. To learn more about the Human Services Council visi t hscct.org.

“Lunch for a Cause” ran from October to December of 2016. The restaurant and the Human Services Council, encouraged people to eat lunch at the restaurant so that they could help create awareness for the local charity that is in need of ongoing funding.

Mediterraneo opened in May 2013 at 353 Main Ave., in the Hotel Zero Degrees. It is open for lunch and dinner, seven days a  week. For more information visit its website .
