NORWALK, Conn. -- A major mall developer is reportedly eyeing the last and largest chunk of the Reed Putnam Urban Renewal area of South Norwalk, according to a story in The Hour.
In a presentation filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, General Growth Properties Inc. lists a "New Mall Development" in "Fairfield County, CT" with an estimated development cost of $285 million as among 10 developments in the company's pipeline nationwide, the newspaper reported.
The Chicago-based real estate investment company operates 123 regional malls nationwide, according to its website.
Some are convinced the proposed $285 million development in Fairfield County is planned for Norwalk, on the dozen-acre site known as District 95/7 SoNo and bordered by West Avenue, Interstate 95, the North Water Street extension and Metro-North Railroad's Danbury Line, the newspaper reported.
