It's Only Natural: After Two Years, Ridgefield Moms Are Ready To Franchise

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Carin Crook and Kirstin Cerulli, owners of Ridgefield-based The Natural Scoop, are on a mission to change the way the world eats ice cream on the go.

"We believe that everyone should have the option to enjoy 'real' treats, made with wholesome, all natural ingredients that you can pronounce, whether at the beach, in the park, at an event, and so on," explained Crook.

"Our Ridgefield truck -- we call her Scoopy -- was our prototype, part of our proof of concept. We turned a profit in year one and knew we had a successful model that works."

Now the two moms --- they met through their kids’ Ridgefield school PTA -- are ready to expand throughout the county. They have been in business together since 2015 and say now is the time to expand -- and franchise.

To that end, they are offering licensing deals for anyone that has ever dreamed of owning their own small business. Believing in the mission of frozen treats with no chemicals or artificial anything is also key.

The first step towards such growth is to sell the local Ridgefield branch. "It's a well-established turn-key operation," explained Cerulli. "We will provide 'home office' support to the new owner, although it will be 100 percent their own business to run and operate.

"We're looking for the right buyer and hope that by getting the word out now, anyone interested can see the truck in action and get a real feel for the business."
