NORWALK, CONN. – Fairfield County native John McNulty says he has always loved Christmas cocktail parties (since he was old enough to drink, he hastily adds), so it was a no-brainer when he got the idea to open a holiday-themed pop-up bar in Norwalk.
“Miracle on Wall Street” – with its over-the-top tinsel, crazy cocktails with names like “The Reindeers’ Revolt” and “A Snowball’s Chance,” and Santa hat-wearing waitstaff – was inspired, McNulty said, by another pop-up in New York City, "Miracle on 9th Street," owned by Greg Boehm.
He and Boehm, of Cocktail Kingdom, a supplier of barware, partnered to open the Norwalk version, he said.
McNulty’s on-going cocktail lounge has popped up at 7 Wall St., above the Apricot Bar and Grill. Its grand opening was Wednesday, and it runs on Wednesdays and Thursdays through Dec. 30. Doors open weekdays at 5 p.m.; on Saturdays and Sundays, it opens at 4 p.m.
And if Christmas is not exactly your cup of tea, “Miracle” has something for you, too – the “Hanukkah Hideway,” complete with a menorah and blue and silver decorations.
There is no cover charge and “Miracle” can accommodate large parties, McNulty said.
