U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (D-4th District) announced that Google is bringing its Connecticut Get Your Business Online program to Dolce Norwalk at 32 Weed Ave. in Norwalk at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 27.
"At the Connecticut Get Your Business Online event, Google experts will help small business owners create their own websites," said a press release. "Businesses also receive a customized domain name, free web hosting for one year, a local business listing on Google Maps, free tools, training and resources. Google experts are on hand to train the business owners on how to reach more customers online."
Connecticut Get Your Business Online is "an easy and fast way for local businesses to get a website and become more visible online, where the majority of people are going to find goods and services," according to the release. Although 97 percent of Internet users look online for local products and services, 53 percent of Connecticut small businesses do not have a website or online presence, according to the release.
“The perception that getting online is complex, costly and time-consuming has prevented too many Connecticut small businesses from taking the first step,” said Soo Young Kim, director of Google's America Get Your Business Online program. “This program makes it fast, easy and free for businesses to get online."
