Fourth-Generation Norwalk Business Thrives With Unbreakable Bond

NORWALK, Conn. -- Tim Currie is a devoted family man, just like the two generations that came before him. He is the proud owner of Currie's Tires of Norwalk, which was started by his grandfather LJ Duck Currie in 1929.

His two sons, Adam and Tim Jr., have also decided to follow in their family's footsteps and inherit the dream of generations past that started at the very same location 86 years ago. This family’s unique devotion to one another was challenged in 2005 when Tim was diagnosed with colon cancer.

He underwent treatment and fought off the disease, but two years later, he was diagnosed with liver cancer. During his second round of treatment, Tim declined chemotherapy and decided on natural remedies to cure his life-threatening disease. It was during this time when his life was on the line that Tim decided to rekindle an old passion for playing music and picked up his drumsticks for the first time in 25 years.

Armed with a new lease on life, he started his band, Tim Currie and the Motown Review, which donates their talents to raising money for those suffering and in need.
