Connecticut's Ray Dalio Named World's Top Hedge Fund Manager

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Greenwich resident and leader of Westport's Bridgewater Pure Alpha hedge fund Ray Dalio was named the world's top Hedge Fund Manager by Business Insider.

Bridgewater Pure Alpha is the largest hedge fund in the world, controlling $160 billion globally. Dalio's fund realized $3.3 billion in net gains in 2015. He is worth $15.6 billion, making him the richest man in the Nutmeg State, according to Business Insider. 

Andreas Halvorsen, who is the hedge fund manager for Greenwich-based Viking, was ranked No.5 on the list. Halvorsen's funds saw a net gain of $1.7 billion in 2015. The Darien resident has a net worth of $2.8 billion, Business Insider Reported. 

Greenwich's Stephen Mandel, manager of Lone Pine Capital, was No. 6 on the list with a net worth of $2.4 billion. Greenwich-based Lone Pine saw net gains of $1.2 billion in 2015 and $22.4 billion since the fund's inception in 1996, Business Insider said.
